Your privacy
This website is primarily an information website designed to introduce The Owlery and direct visitors to Booking.com.
We do not take bookings or payments through this website and do not collect payment-card details through it.
Our website hosting and security systems may process limited technical information, such as IP addresses, browser information and access logs, where necessary to operate and protect the website.
When you book through Booking.com, we receive the information needed to administer your reservation and provide your accommodation. This may include your name, contact details, dates of stay, number of guests and any information or requests you choose to provide.
We use this information to manage your booking, communicate with you about your stay, provide the accommodation and meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
Our lawful bases for doing so are principally the performance of our contract with you, compliance with legal obligations and our legitimate interests in operating and protecting The Owlery.
We do not sell your personal information.
Booking.com
Availability, reservations and payments are handled through Booking.com.
When you follow a booking link from this website, you leave The Owlery website. Booking.com operates under its own privacy policy, cookie policy and terms.
Booking.com subsequently provides us with the information necessary to administer your reservation.
CCTV and video doorbell
External CCTV and a video doorbell are used at The Owlery for the security of guests, the property and its surroundings, and for the prevention and investigation of crime or damage.
There are no surveillance cameras inside the guest accommodation.
Images may include guests, visitors and vehicles entering or leaving the property. Access to recordings is restricted and footage will only be disclosed where reasonably necessary, for example to the police, insurers or other authorities in connection with an incident.
Recordings are normally retained for [INSERT RETENTION PERIOD] and then automatically deleted, unless footage needs to be preserved in connection with a particular incident.
Our lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in protecting guests and the property.
The ICO treats commercial smart doorbells and CCTV as personal-data processing and recommends appropriate signage as well as privacy information.
Cookies
We deliberately keep the use of cookies and tracking technologies on this website to a minimum.
At present, we do not use cookies for advertising, behavioural tracking or website analytics.
Our website or hosting infrastructure may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for the operation, delivery or security of the website.
If this changes in future, we will update this notice and obtain consent where required. The ICO distinguishes necessary technologies from non-essential cookies that require an appropriate consent mechanism.
Sharing and retaining information
We may share personal information where necessary with Booking.com, website and IT service providers, professional advisers, insurers and public authorities where required by law.
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are used as required by UK data-protection law.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, accounting and regulatory requirements.
Your rights
Under UK data-protection law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information and to object to certain processing.
Please contact us at the email address above if you wish to exercise any of these rights.
